“The Build Back Better Act (BBBA) is now on the back burner. Can it be salvaged? The answer may come down to whether Democrats want to enact something that is transformational, as they say they want, or merely temporary, which is what they produced in the House…. President Biden and his Democratic colleagues deserve praise for sticking to the idea that new policies should be paid for, but a one-year extension of the child tax credit is not transformational and that’s all they’ve paid for in the House version of the BBBA.”
