DES MOINES — Republican presidential candidates Rand Paul and Carly Fiorina will appear this weekend on Your First Budget, a series on the MC22 television network that is providing viewers in Iowa and elsewhere with critical information on the fiscal and economic proposals of some 2016 candidates.

The series is sponsored by First Budget — a joint effort of The Concord Coalition and the Campaign to Fix the Debt — with MC22, a community news network serving Iowa and parts of several other Midwestern states.

The interviews with Paul, a U.S. senator from Kentucky, and Fiorina, a philanthropic leader and former corporate executive, will be broadcast back-to-back on Saturday, Jan. 23, starting at 8 a.m CST. The interviews will air again at 10 a.m. CST Sunday, and will be shown repeatedly until the Iowa caucuses. For future broadcast times, visit MC22’s website.

The interviews will be available to MC22 subscribers in Iowa, Illinois and Minnesota. They will also be made available on First Budget’s website shortly after they are initially broadcast.

Jeff Angelo, a media personality and former Iowa state senator, will conduct the interviews. They will cover topics such as the national debt, Social Security, health care, tax policies, national defense and domestic investments.

Republican presidential candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich was interviewed late last year.

“The next president will inherit significant fiscal challenges, including unsustainable growth in the federal debt,” says Sara Imhof, First Budget’s Iowa state director. “The ‘Your First Budget’ programs are enabling voters to hear directly from candidates on their fiscal and economic proposals — and how they would pay for their campaign promises.”
