Former Congressman William Zeliff and Concord Coalition Official To Discuss U.S. Budget Challenges in Newburyport

NEWBURYPORT, MASS. –Former Congressman William H. Zeliff andChase A. Hagaman, a regional director for the nonpartisan Concord Coalition, will be featured speakers in a public program Thursday night, Oct. 13, in Newburyport on the fiscal challenges facing the nation, the next president and Congress.

Zeliff was deputy Republican whip in the U.S. House, where he served from 1990 to 1997 as a representative from New Hampshire. He authored the “A to Z Budget Cutting Tool” used by members of Congress to encourage fiscal responsibility.

Hagaman, a regional director for the nonpartisan Concord Coalition, will be featured speakers in a public program Thursday night, Oct. 13, in Newburyport on the fiscal challenges facing the nation, the next president and Congress.

Zeliff was deputy Republican whip in the U.S. House, where he served from 1990 to 1997 as a representative from New Hampshire. He authored the “A to Z Budget Cutting Tool” used by members of Congress to encourage fiscal responsibility.

He chaired the Subcommittee on National Security, International Affairs and Criminal Justice under the House Government Reform Committee. Zeliff also served on the House Transportation Committee and the Small Business Committee. He currently works as a senior counselor at The Livingston Group.

Hagaman works with community leaders, student groups, business organizations and elected officials across New England and upstate New York who are interested in more responsible federal budget policies. He organizes public education events, performs media outreach and engages volunteers.

A member of the New Hampshire Bar, Hagaman received a law degree from the University of New Hampshire. He has previously worked with the court system and state and municipal agencies.

The two will speak at the NE Essex GOP’s monthly meeting Oct. 13, which will be open to the public regardless of political affiliation. The program will be at the Newburyport Elks, at 25 Low Street in Newburyport, Mass.
