Federal Budget Exercise To Be Held Tomorrow at Site of Final Presidential Debate: University of Nevada, Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — In advance of the final presidential debate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, students, faculty and staff there will participate in an interactive exercise tomorrow in which they will face some of the difficult budget choices awaiting the next administration and Congress.

LAS VEGAS — In advance of the final presidential debate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, students, faculty and staff there will participate in an interactive exercise tomorrow in which they will face some of the difficult budget choices awaiting the next administration and Congress.

The “Principles & Priorities” exercise, developed by the non-partisan Concord Coalition, calls for participants to work in small groups to develop plans to put the federal budget on a more sustainable course. They will discuss and vote on dozens of proposals involving taxes, defense, Medicare, Social Security and other domestic issues.

The program will run from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in Room 3217 Greenspun Hall on the university campus. Phil Smith, Concord’s national political director, will conduct the exercise.

This is the last in a series of programs on the federal budget that Concord has been presenting at universities where this year’s presidential and vice presidential debates are being held.
