National Experts To Discuss Solutions To The Nation's Fiscal Challenges

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina residents will have the opportunity on Wednesday, March 31, to hear national experts discuss solutions to massive government deficits and funding problems in the big federal entitlement programs.  

Former Federal Reserve Board Vice Chair Alice Rivlin will be among the panelists at “Fixing Our Fiscal Future,” a public event that will be held at 5:30 p.m. on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress got a lot of good advice recently when representatives of The Concord Coalition’s fiscal advisory councils visited Capitol Hill to present their recommendations.

The basic message: Elected officials must make some dramatic changes to put the country on a more responsible fiscal course, protect our economic future and avoid saddling our children and grandchildren with massive debt.

WASHINGTON -- The Concord Coalition today announced plans to form a Youth Advisory Board to help young people around the country become more engaged in pushing for responsible fiscal policies.

The board will support The Concord Coalition's grassroots efforts, advising it on the development of educational programs and helping to coordinate Concord's field operations with the efforts of a growing number of youth organizations interested in advocating for a secure fiscal and economic future.
