The Concord Coalition is a national, nonpartisan organization dedicated to fiscal responsibility and reform. Since 1992 Concord has worked to educate the American public about the causes and consequences of the growing federal debt and the need to develop realistic solutions for sustainable budgets.

Concord Coalition Grassroots Leaders Deliver Report on Fiscal Stewardship

WASHINGTON -- The Concord Coalition will release a report on the first year of its Fiscal Stewardship Project next Monday, Dec. 7, at a conference on Capitol Hill. The project established advisory groups and programs in seven areas around the country to study the long-term fiscal and economic challenges facing the United States and to recommend possible solutions.

Concord Coalition Executive Director Robert L. Bixby will be joined by U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf (R-VA) in a discussion of the report and Mr. Wolf’s SAFE Commission legislation.

The Concord Coalition To Release Fiscal Stewardship Report

WASHINGTON -- The Concord Coalition will release a report on the first year of its Fiscal Stewardship Project next Monday, Dec. 7, at a conference on Capitol Hill. Supported by a grant from the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, the Fiscal Stewardship Project involved citizens in Atlanta, Denver, Iowa, Milwaukee, Northern California, Northern Virginia and Philadelphia.

Concord Coalition Warns That New Entitlement is Not A Valid Health Care Reform Offset

As House and Senate leaders negotiate the final details of their respective health care reforms bills, The Concord Coalition warned today that one provision under consideration, the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports (CLASS) Act, is structurally unsound and fiscally irresponsible. Moreover, the long-term cost of this new entitlement, which could be substantial, is hidden by the fact that it appears to produce a short-term windfall.

Concord Coalition Says New Projections Show Need For Health Care Cost Control and Deficit Reduction Plan

With today’s release of new budget projections from the Obama administration showing deficits totaling more than $9 trillion over the next 10 years, The Concord Coalition said that cost control must be the primary focus of health care reform and called for a bipartisan deficit reduction plan. Furthermore, the administration’s numbers are optimistic when compared to what would occur if we simply extended current policy.

Youth Conference Produces Plan For Action On Nation's Long-Term Fiscal Outlook

On June 15 and June 16, The Concord Coalition and the Youth Entitlements Summit (YES) hosted a two-day conference in Washington, D.C with support from The Peter G. Peterson Foundation.  The conference brought together youth leaders and organizations and created an action plan for addressing the nation’s long-term fiscal challenges. The participants resolved to coordinate their efforts on educating and engaging youth on fiscal issues.
