President of the American Action Committee and former CBO Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin discussed a new paper on pro-growth immigration reform.
"Because the US population is getting older, because the birth rates are so low that in the absence of immigration it would actually shrink, everything about our future is about our immigration choices," said Holtz-Eakin. "So I would say let's place more emphasis on the economic content of immigration decisions and as a result pick our future, pick the labor force, pick the skills, pick the capacity to grow."
The paper was prepared as part of a Concord Coalition project on fiscal responsibility and economic growth. Generous financial support was provided by Jeff Fox, Chairman and CEO of Harbour Group, St. Louis Missouri.
