In 2010, Robert Bixby, director of the Concord Coalition, and David Walker, the former U. S. comptroller-general, began touring the country to sound the alarm about the nation’s out-of-control debt. History will record that they did their best to serve as the Paul Reveres of the 21st century. At the time, the nation’s debt totaled around $10 trillion. Their warning fell on deaf ears.
In the intervening decade, the national debt has more than doubled.
