Concord Coalition, Hofstra University to Co-Host Panel Discussion, Budget Exercise Tuesday at Site of First 2016 Presidential Debate

HEMPSTEAD, NY. -- In advance of the first 2016 Presidential Debate at Hofstra University, The Concord Coalition and the university will co-host a panel discussion featuring some of the country's leading fiscal experts and an interactive federal budget exercise for students.

The budget exercise will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Plaza Rooms in the Student Center on Hofstra's campus. Phil LaRue, Concord’s director of government relations, will conduct the exercise. The panel discussion will follow at 12:45 p.m. in the same location.

The penny plan to reduce spending by one cent on every dollar (one percent a year) has been bouncing around Washington for years but is now getting a higher profile with versions supported by the Senate Budget Committee Chairman Mike Enzi and the Republican nominee for president, Donald Trump.
