“Whether or not we extend the long-term unemployment benefits has very little to do with our fiscal future,” Bob Bixby, executive director of The Concord Coalition told Scripps’ political podcast DecodeDC. “Now I think there is a very good case to be made for extending the unemployment benefits because we still have an unusually high number of the unemployed qualifying for these long-term benefits because they’ve been out of work more than 26 weeks,” said Bixby, executive director of the coalition.
